In order to achieve a power output of 1MW, the array size was estimated at 3000 panels. However, the model demonstrated that approximately 10, 000 panels are required.
Alternatively a solar tracking system could be installed using low-power linear actuators, increasing efficiencies and energy yields. Producing 1.825 GWh would address 0.18% of Nepal’s energy deficit.
The above figures are total costs for both systems.
The IEEE standards for maximum microwave radiation exposure at 2.45 GHz:
100W/m2 as averaged over 6 min
16.3 W/m2 over 30 minutes for controlled environments
38.7 W/m2 over 30 minutes for uncontrolled environments
With respect to the environment, birds have been known to nest and reproduce in military radar installations of higher intensities. Research indicates that un-modulated waves (as with our system) are unlikely to have biological effects.
